The owner and family friends designed and built this 3500 sq. ft. log retreat. Very spacious and very secluded, this family vacation log cabin is ready to welcome up to 10 guests to commune with nature in its wooded hillside setting. Guests are invited to gather round in the open-concept living-dining-kitchen area with spectacular views to the great outdoors. Comfy sofas, chairs, a big dining table, and fully-equipped kitchen will make everyone in your group feel right at home. On the main level, there’s a bedroom that features massive beams and a beautiful vintage door with leaded glass panes. ‘Reclaim and repurpose’ is a practice that the homeowner has implemented throughout the cabin… all of the millwork around the doors and windows has either come from oak, maple, or walnut trees on the owner’s property, or is actually reclaimed redwood from California. There’s a bathroom on this level, as well. Guests will surely want to take the opportunity to venture outside to the hot tub deck or the fire pit. Choose teams to enjoy the many outdoor games like ladderball, horseshoes, or cornhole. Whomever signs up for kitchen duty will appreciate the well-appointed kitchen with its very very unique bar made of natural-edge boards…what a perfect place to spread the snacks and drinks! Dishes, cookware, countertop appliances, and the standard stove, fridge, and dishwasher are all there to make cooking feasts fun for everyone. If you prefer to eat where the ‘locals’ eat, hop in the car and head to Brownie’s Bean Blossom Inn for tasty home-cooking meals all day long. The Gatesville General Store is also just a short jaunt away, and is famous for bountiful breakfasts and lunches. The big fireplace and flat-screen TV complete the family huddle spot. The lower level of this cabin is all about the entertainment of its guests. Be prepared for kids of any age (we’re lookin’ at you, Grandma & Grandpa!) to get all pumped up over foosball, air hockey, or the pool table downstairs.
