Enjoy pure and simple comfort in this unique log structure built with gleaming ponderosa pine logs from Montana forests. Relax to the sounds of the legendary Gallatin River while resting in your log bed from an old Montana Ranch. We price our large capacity Lodge based on the number of people in your party so the cost is kept low for smaller groups. The rate calculator will automatically adjust the cost by $20/person per night if your group size is larger than the base occupancy rate.
Great river location - plenty of acreage, yard, river walks, fishing without having to leave the property. During spring runoff, typically 2-3 weeks in May or early June, the river comes up and fishing is limited and some of the walking trails are under water.
Lucky Dog Lodge is managed by Bozeman Cottage Vacation Rentals, a small homegrown Bozeman company with over 20 years of experience. For more reviews and information, including a self-guided 3D walkthrough, search the name of the house plus the words Bozeman Cottage.
The Lucky Dog Lodge is the perfect alternative to a full service guest lodge at roughly a tenth of the price. If your party has willing cooks, or an appetite for the many superb food services of the Gallatin Valley, then come enjoy all the privacy you want and all the space you need! The property is adjoined by family living on the river side of the Lodge and you will be overlooking their gardens and house from the upper decks of the Lodge - see the photo included in the listing. The owner lives just to the north across the yard and there are no other houses between the Lodge and the river. Across the street is a neighborhood that for all practical purposes disappears once you are at the Lodge. The photo showing the rooftop solar system gives a view of the general area.
The Lucky Dog is palatial comfort, pure and simple. This grand log structure, built with gleaming ponderosa pine logs from Montana forests, recalls the majestic natural beauty of the Rockies. As you enter, your eye is immediately drawn to the third floor balcony and the massive logs and ridge pole that dominate the interior. The fir tongue-and-groove ceiling is lit by myriad natural light sources. The open design and high ceilings create a spacious and airy feel. And as of 2018 we have a huge 8KW solar electric array to keep things green!
Radiant floor heating and thick log walls maintain a comfortable temperature year-round. Wood decks extend from the second and third floors, as well a large ground level deck, offering views of a number of famous mountain ranges and the Gallatin River. Relax to the rushing of the Gallatin in log beds, reclaimed from an old Montana ranch. Better yet, soak in the balcony hot tub overlooking the river as the sun sets behind the magnificent Spanish Peaks.
The great hall on the main floor harbors a fully equipped kitchen, complete with pine breakfast bar and a large dining area. The comfortable relaxing area is also perfect for family games or business retreat meetings.
Upstairs are two levels of living quarters: 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms supporting at least 15 guests (like anywhere, depends how close together they are willing to live and sleep). Regarding sleeping places, there are 3 queen beds, 6 x-long twins, 2 twins, 1 double, 3 floor pads (surprisingly comfortable, bring your own bedding). Mathematically that’s at least 20 persons but if you are bringing together a group of business associates they may not be comfortable sharing beds or bedrooms.
Lucky Dog Lodge 2nd floor has 4 bedrooms: 3 of those bedrooms have a queen size bed, 1 bedroom has two x-long twin beds
Lucky Dog Lodge 3rd floor has 2 large bedrooms: There are 4 x-long twin beds in one of those bedrooms, the other bedroom has 2 regular twins and a full size bed.
Extra sleeping options: we provide 3 high quality floor pads (3-section fold out upholstered pads), bring your own sleeping bags and/or bedding.
Location The Lucky Dog is located conveniently 20 minutes from the Bozeman airport and 12 minutes from Montana State University or the heart of Bozeman. Exercise and relaxation at the Bozeman Hot Springs is a short walk away, offering heated pools, a fitness center, and saunas. The small town of Four Corners is only 3 minutes away with food, supplies, fishing guides and equipment. Amazing hiking, rafting, skiing, horseback riding, and golf destinations are within an half an hour in almost any direction from the Lodge. Yellowstone National Park is a gorgeous 1.5 hour drive south.
Besides the ability to fish the legendary Gallatin from your back yard, fishing spots along the Missouri, Yellowstone, Madison, and their countless tributaries are all within a short drive from this breath taking adventure command center!

Amazing stay, great communication, very comfortable. I would recommend staying here and I would stay again.
Great to hear! Thanks for posting your review and for taking such good care of the place. Paul - Owner, Bozeman Cottage Vacation Rentals since 1998
We ended up in Bozeman on a -30 degree weekend! Skiing was not as inviting as we had hoped but luckily we had splurged on this wonderful family cabin. It could’t have been better for us to gather and relax and enjoy staying warm near the gas fireplace. Plenty of beds and bedrooms and bathrooms and a better than usual equipped kitchen! Lots of towels although with the showering and hot tubbing we did run low but luckily were able to wash and reuse with the onsite washer and dryer. We loved the pictures and story of the history of the cabin and had a very special family weekend there!
Julie and her family were great guests! Glad you enjoyed the hot tub, kitchen, and fireplace during your stay! Welcome back anytime. Paul, Owner - Bozeman Cottage Vacation Rentals, since 1998
Paul was a fantastic host and the Lucky Dog Lodge was perfect for a larger group! Had a great time! Place was nice and clean and had plenty of beds for 10 guys.
Perfect place for a large group! Easy to get to town, easy to get to Big Sky.
Great space. We used for a staff retreat and it had everything we needed and then some. Kitchen was great, multiple tables and places to simply hang out, great wifi and overall wonderful hidden gem.
Ditto the personal review. Just use that!
Great place for our group to spend a week enjoying Bozeman and the surrounding area!
We had a large group of adults staying here together while in the area to ski at Big Sky and this place was the perfect fit for us. The lodge is a true rustic cabin feel, tons of beds for everyone to sleep comfortably, fully loaded with kitchenware, towels, toiletries, spices/oils/vinegars, two sets of washers and dryers, etc etc. The great room is awesome and perfect for entertaining. The location is About 55 minutes to Big Sky, 15 to downtown Bozeman, and a less than ten minute walk to the Bozeman Hot Springs (tip - go when there is live music). It’s off the beaten path while still being very accessible which was nice. The hot tub and grill were added bonuses. Seriously, this place has it all and is perfect for a large gathering of friends or family - we made so many great memories there and most certainly will be back!!
Great place for a bigger gathering - homey lodge feel and all the amenities. Super close to the hot springs, 10-15 min to downtown Bozeman and close to Bridger and Big Sky. Great for family/friend gatherings with all ages and tons of space for game night and relaxing after a long day outdoors. We had plenty of bathrooms and space to spread out and everything we needed! Thanks!
Great big lodge, great communication.
Great accommodations and location for a family reunion!
Paul was very responsive, friendly and laid back. We had an amazing time and the space was beyond perfect!
The house is great. Great condition with nice pictures of history of house and all. Centrally located within hour of numerous great ski resorts, hour 30 from Yellowstone. Sleep everyone perfectly and great all around place for small group. Nice stream walking distance out the back door even for lazy days. Highly recommend.
We loved the Lucky Dog Lodge! We are going to come back in the summer to stay again! So much fun!
This was honestly one of the best trips my family has ever had. The location, the property, the vibe... it was all exactly what we needed. If you're looking for the 5 Star Ritz Carlton, this may not be for you, but if you are looking for an awesome, old school, rustic log cabin place to stay with all the essentials... then this is the spot. We cook a lot, so it was nice to have an equipped kitchen with all of our needs, and a view to go along with it. How many times can you make breakfast with deer watching you through the window? The hot tub was great, the living room was comfortable, and the rooms were just right. Obviously I am not the owner or have any relation to the owners/managers, but if I could go out on a limb and make a personal request... please release the Trout from the fishing hole out back. If you need a couple for dinner, that is fine, but the reason there are so many fish is because this is a sustainable area where people primarily catch and release. I plan on coming back here for years and years, so let's protect the resource.
We had a wonderful time at the Lucky Dog Lodge. It was set in a serene neighborhood right on the bank of the river. The house has everything we needed and more. I especially appreciated the EO bathroom essentials. It was big enough for our whole family and spacious enough that we didn’t feel we were on top of each other.
Paul was especially hospitable and allowed us to extend our stay. Overall, we were very pleased!
This place was absolutely perfect for our group. We had 9 kids and 8 adults, and everyone had their own space. At no time did we feel we were on top of each other. They layout was perfect and we loved the the log look! The beds were clean and comfortable and we enjoyed our stay very much.
Thank you
My wife and our extended family stayed four nights at the Lucky Dog Lodge in Mid February. This home is really fun and functional. The heated floors and log construction make the home really comfortable and cozy--especially when it is -7 degrees outside. The open floor plan on the first floor allows for maximum interaction with the family while preparing meals. It was large enough to handle 14 of us with ease. We all just had a blast and we would love to stay here again when we return next year. Greg
What a great place . Enjoyed all aspects of this home. Warm and cozy !
We really enjoyed Lucky Dog Lodge. It was ideal for a large family gathering! The older generations enjoyed the spacious and comfortable home while the younger generations played in the water , floated the Madison and hiked the trails nearby. After dinner everyone gathered around for music and sharing memories from the day. We remarked how nice it was to have so many beds and bathrooms. The kitchen was well-stocked, plenty of hot water and fresh linens/towels. This was a perfect place for our family reunion!
